Thai Corn (on the hob)

Thai spices and pureed corn are not obvious bedfellows but I thought I'd give this a whirl to see if it works.
To my surprise the fragrant chilli and lemon grass flavours sat alongside sweetcorn puree/pieces reasonably well. Having said that, if this were the school playground, Thai spices would definitely be the bully to the sweetcorn's wimp. One dominated the other slightly too much for my liking.
This was a perfectly tasty lunch and the soft potato which was loitering at the bottom gave the mixture a decent texture.
Souper Review is big on both Asian broths and rich sweetcorn dishes (as you will see below) and I couldn't help but think that it would be better to keep the two separate. Without allowing the richness of the sweetcorn to radiate or giving the Thai flavours some meat and crunchy veg to complement neither element of the soup achieved its glorious potential.
