£4.95 for I don’t know how many millilitres but props to you if you finish it.
Asian cuisine is perfect winter fare. In the face of snow, desperation for a rare December healthy meal and the prospect of a very late supper I was drawn to Itsu, where I have heard rumour that the soups are ‘HUGE’.
After lengthy deliberation I took in my chilly hands the weighty vegetable dumplings pot (watch this space for reviews of the chicken, duck, salmon and ‘detox’ varieties).
On lifting the lid I was delighted to find at least three oversize dumplings (‘gyoza’ for you Wagamamma goers) that weren’t greasy at all and filled with delicious fresh veg. Between dumplings, I slurped heaped spoon after heaped spoon of nutritious miso broth (you need both chopsticks and spoon). To compensate for your sorrow that the dumplings have to end sometime, in come the thick and glutenous udon noodles at the bottom. Jolly fine.
Heartily recommend when you’re starving and want to feel full but not bilious. Yes, the price is pretty high but if you went for a sit down lunch in Wagamamma or similar asian high st eatery your bill would still be more for the same feeling of satiation.
