EAT Chicken PHO soup review

£4.95 for a fairly hefty portion.

I went for this soup from EAT today as they'd run out of the popular (apparently EAT's best selling soup) the previously reviewed chicken pot pie.

In search of something warming and nourishing, I had a look at the hot sandwiches but kept being drawn to these huge pots in the chiller.

The PHO is a bowl of crunchy and fresh seasoned vegetables with shredded chicken over which is poured a hot miso broth when you take it to the counter. There's also a prawn variant if you prefer.

The broth was trasparent, zesty, light and crucially not over salty - often an issue with these kind of asian soups. The seasoning has a little kick to it but nothing even a spice weed like myself you would deem as 'spicy'. I occasionally got hit by an explosion of coriander which I didn't really enjoy because quite frankly coriander offends my palette.

The chicken PHO might win the prize for the longest time taken for me to eat lunch - around 20 minutes. The pot retained it's heat though and it tasted delicious until the last mouthful.

Chopsticks AND spoon needed for this. Maybe I should have worn a bib as well - it went everywhere.

3/5.
