When I chose the winter vegetable (from a selection of 4 original and classic choices) I was slightly apprehensive as it could easily have followed the corner shop vegetable soup path of being a salty, flaccid mess released from a tin.
Imagine my surprise, then, when I discovered that this little soup is absolutely jam packed with flavour and nourishment. The potato was just soft enough, the herbs just prominent enough and the melange of seasonal flavour just satisfying enough to make this a delightful soup for a chilly day.
Only thing I would note is the very salty aftertaste, but this is very often the case with vegetable soups so I'll let them off.
If this blog only covered winter vegetable soups, it would be a 4.75, but in the general context of all soups I give it 3.75
