Opening the lid on my Moroccan Chicken the first thing I noticed was the aroma. A heady mix seasoning wafts at the nostrils taking you on a journey to the markets of Marrakesh. Free from dancing cobras and knock-off goods, the reddish mixture was jam packed with tomatoes, chopped onions and flavoursome veg. Chickpeas drift within the soup adding texture and give the dish a little bite.
Large chicken pieces lurk beneath the surface and with a hint of lemon they were gratefully received and then devoured. Pret could have been a little more generous with their chicken, I counted two monster chunks and several smallish morsels.
This is a light soup and anyone with a serious hunger would do well to stock up on bread or other accompaniments. A suggestion for Pret, a little dollop of couscous could really give this soup the carbo load it needs.
All in all a very enjoyable soup, I found myself scrapping every last dreg from the bottom with my maroon spoon in a manner not unfamiliar to anyone who's ever seen Gregg Wallace judge a Masterchef dessert.
